Monday 4 Devotion (1)

How do you know God?

I will start with a testimony. Last year around June or July I can’t recall the exact date, I woke up with the song Rejoice by Sinachi in my spirit. I couldn’t stop singing it as I prepared for work, I wore thick clothing (which came in handy later). It had rained in the night and there was still some drizzle, Once I was done I phoned my boda(bike) guy but he didn’t pick my calls, so I started walking towards the stage to get a taxi, then the spirit tells me “do not be scared” (Yes God speaks) I didn’t think much on it, but I acknowledged it. Before I got to the stage my bike guy showed up and so I hoped on. This particular day he was riding unusually fast and the road was slippery from the rain but I just kept reminding myself not to be scared , it’s as if I was oblivious to the speed and more conscious of what the spirit was communicating to me, Dont be sacred.

Everything happened so fast, for me it was like floating in space for the witness I rolled over and over again eventually slamming my head hard on a car bumper, he was certain I was done for. To his suprise I stood up and was helped cross the road to safety by some passersby, everyone else moved on except for this one witness, he parked his car and came to my rescue, he took me to the hospital, we had X-rays done and nothing was broken, just a small fracture on my big toe and a sprain on my shoulder plus a few bruises. The good samaritan stayed with me the entire time, everyone at the hospital thought we knew each other because of the concern he showed(my ever-present help) and he kept saying “your God is great, I could not just walk away from the scene because I saw everything and am still wondering how you are still here with no major damage at all”.

This man also made sure I got home safe. He kept cancelling meetings saying he could not leave me until he was sure I was safe. ( because I get asked a lot if he was single🤣🤣🤣🤣 well he is a happily married man and a father of twins, he was also good looking an Angel indeed)

The message to not be scared made sense that day. I realised fear gets in the way of the work of the Spirit. Through scripture you will notice the lord saying to us to be courageous, to not be afraid. The Lord wants us to trust him, he requires total surrender to do his work in you. Are you willing to let go and let him?

So How do I know God?.

Well first off. God is multidimensional. He is one and all.

He is love, he is Holy, he is King and so much more.

I know him intimately as my ever-present help. This God has been there with me even in places I never expected him to be, one lonely dark night in my life, he embraced me and I’ve never been the same. Each encounter with him leaves me in awe. He is beautiful beyond description

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,

Psalms 46:1-2
